Dr. Syed Chiragh Hussain Shah was born in village Tajazai, District Lakki Marwat on 1st September 1947. He graduated from Khyber Medical College, Peshawar in 1969. He served in various capacities in provincial health services. He retired as Medical Superintendent at Mufti Mehmood Hospital, Dera Ismael Khan in 2007. He is a prolific writer in Pashto, Urdu and English. He is a bibliophile and spent a lion share of his life reading and exploring different aspects of Pashto literature and Pashtun history. He has authored more than 20 books out of which some are yet to be published. Nowadays he resides in Hayatabad, Peshawar.
